The Low Down: A Journey Through Fiordland and the West Coast of New Zealand

Join me on an unforgettable landscape photography workshop through the rugged landscapes of Fiordland and the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island. This immersive photography adventure will take you to some of New Zealand’s most photogenic locations, from the pristine beaches of Wharariki Beach to the striking Pancake Rocks of Punakaiki, capturing stunning moments along the way.

You’ll photograph the iconic Wanaka Tree, explore Fiordland National Park’s pristine wilderness, and capture stunning reflections of Aoraki Mount Cook. A highlight of this workshop is the overnight cruise through Doubtful Sound, where you’ll have the chance to photograph some of New Zealand’s most breathtaking landscapes—mist-covered rainforests, towering mountain peaks, and cascading waterfalls. This remote fjord offers unparalleled opportunities to capture dramatic light and awe-inspiring views.

This workshop also offers exciting opportunities for astrophotography, with the timing planned around the new moon to give you the best chance of capturing the night sky. The naturally dark skies along New Zealand’s West Coast, including areas within the Aoraki Mackenzie Dark Sky Reserve, provide ideal conditions for stargazing. While the weather is unpredictable and astrophotography cannot be guaranteed, we’ll take advantage of the conditions as best we can during the workshop.

This workshop blends stunning scenery with remote locations, offering a rare opportunity to capture exceptional imagery in one of the world’s most pristine and beautiful environments. You'll have the chance to create a portfolio showcasing both breathtaking New Zealand landscapes and awe-inspiring night sky photography.
